🌍 The Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economy (RIPESS) joins the Global Platform for the Right to the City (GPR2C) —of which it is an active member— in its joint work towards the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held from 10 to 21 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil.

This summit represents a key opportunity to strengthen the Right to the City and Climate Justice, promoting a multi-actor and multi-level climate action led by communities, in alliance with local and regional governments.

RIPESS aligns with the strategic axes guiding the GPR2C agenda towards COP30:

1️⃣ Strengthen community participation in mitigation and adaptation plans, as well as in the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs);
2️⃣ Decentralize and expand local climate finance, supporting grassroots initiatives and community-led solutions;
3️⃣ Promote a just transition, ensuring the protection of basic services and ecosystems.

Within this framework, RIPESS highlights the crucial role of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in enabling a socially and environmentally just transition.
SSE initiatives —such as housing cooperatives, agroecological production, community recycling, and public-community partnerships— not only strengthen local economies but also promote sustainable, equitable, and resilient urban models.

The SSE and the Right to the City share a common vision: building fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable cities and territories, where communities lead climate action and systemic change.
