A Collaborative Initiative of ASSEFA and Sai Sakshatkaram Trust to Serve the Poor and Vulnerable
On October 23, 2026, the Sai Sarva Seva Anna Prasadalagam, a community kitchen, was inaugurated at the ASSEFA – Annapoorani Temple Campus, Thonugal, in Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu. This collaborative initiative of ASSEFA and Sai Sakshatkaram Trust aims to provide one free meal every day to 100 poor and vulnerable people, including the elderly, widows, destitute persons, people living alone without support, and persons with physical disabilities.
The kitchen was inaugurated by Guru Naveen Sai and Sri Kumar Loganathan. The programme began with special poojas dedicated to Goddess Annapoorani, followed by a series of homams to invoke divine blessings and pray for the success, sustainability and long-term service of the initiative.
More than 200 delegates participated in the inaugural function. The programme reflected the spirit of unity and service through prayers representing different religions, devotional bhajans and discussions on the importance of Annadhanam (the offering of food).
Sri Kumar Loganathan briefly introduced ASSEFA and highlighted how spirituality is integrated with development to promote the well-being of rural communities. Sri J. Chandrapaul and Shivagiri Nathalingeshwara Swamy spoke about the significance of Annadhanam as an expression of compassion, equality and service to humanity.
Sri Govindarajan and Dr. Badrinathan shared the work and contributions of the Sai Trusts. Sri Guru Naveen Sai explained the inspiration behind initiating the Annadhanam programme, the collaboration with ASSEFA, and the future plans to expand the initiative and serve more people in need.
Sri S. Muneeswaran proposed the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the dignitaries, delegates, organisers and all those who contributed to making the occasion successful.
The inaugural programme concluded with a community feast, serving food to more than 300 people.
The establishment of the Sai Sarva Seva Anna Prasadalagam marks an important step towards translating the values of compassion, spirituality and service into meaningful action, ensuring that vulnerable people receive a nutritious meal with dignity and care every day.
