RIPESS will actively participate in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), to be held in Seville from June 30 to July 3, 2025.
In the current complex geopolitical context, marked by deep global inequalities and urgent socio-ecological challenges, the international network for the promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economy enters this space with the goal of integrating SSE into the new global Financing for Development Agenda.
With a strong track record of international advocacy, RIPESS has played a key role in recent progress, including the historic UN General Assembly Resolution 77/281 and its follow-up, Resolution 79/213, which “encourages Member States to consider how the social and solidarity economy could contribute to and feature in relevant upcoming multilateral processes, such as the FfD4.”

RIPESS Press Release
Social and Solidarity Economy integrated in the new global Financing for Development Agenda
Thanks to strong advocacy efforts with partners across the Global South and North—and a clear mandate from the UNTFSSE—RIPESS succeeded in securing explicit recognition of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in the draft outcome document of FfD4: The Seville Commitment, to be officially adopted during the conference.
The SSE is now recognized as a key actor for sustainable development, and development banks are called upon to support its growth with tailored financial and non-financial assistance.
