Final adoption of the Act on the Social Economy in the National Assembly

Montreal , October 10, 2013 – The National Assembly today unanimously adopted the draft law on the social economy. Less than a year after Québec prime minister Pauline Marois announced in her inauguration speech her intention to submit this bill to parliament, Quebec is now part of the global movement that recognizes the social economy by adopting a framework legislative dedicated to it.

The Chantier de l’économie sociale’s Ms. Nancy Neamtan responded by saying: “This is a great day for Quebec ! Recognizing the social economy as an important component of the Quebec economy, along with the private and public economy, gives us hope. Quebec in this way consolidates its position in the forefront of societies who understand the enormous potential of this approach to development in the 21st century. ”

The center was created by the Chantier de l’économie sociale in Québec (Canada) and relies on a committee of international partners
