On 26 August 2026, RIPESS International will participate in the webinar “Social and Solidarity Economy: Pathways to Build Another Development Model”, organized by WSM and the INSPIR Network for Latin America and the Caribbean. The event will bring together social, trade union and solidarity‑based organizations from different continents to reflect on the strategic role of SSE in building fairer, more democratic and more inclusive economies.

The webinar takes place at a moment of growing international recognition of SSE, driven by recent UN resolutions and ILO instruments that highlight its contribution to decent work, social protection, equality and sustainability.

Presentation of the Didactic Guide on SSE and UN Resolutions

During the webinar, the Didactic Guide “Social and Solidarity Economy: Tools for Implementing the United Nations Resolutions”, developed by WSM and INSPIR, will be presented. The guide compiles collective learning, experiences and tools created with social and trade union organizations, and aims to strengthen training, organization and advocacy processes in the territories.

Regional Panel

The event will feature a high‑level panel offering global, regional and territorial perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of SSE:

  • Felipe Correa, SSE specialist and researcher at CEPAL
  • Efraín Quicaña, ILO Regional Specialist in Rural Economy, Productive Development and Formalization
  • Helena Almirati, Co‑Coordinator of the RIPESS LAC CDR and representative of RIPESS International
  • Roberto Di Meglio, economist specialized in local development and SSE

Objectives of the Webinar

The webinar aims to:

  • Strengthen regional dialogue on the current political moment of SSE
  • Present the Didactic Guide as a tool for training and advocacy
  • Identify opportunities for joint action to promote public policies favourable to SSE
  • Reflect on the role of social and trade union organizations in promoting decent work, social protection and social justice
