The Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of the Social and Solidarity Economy (RIPESS) expresses its solidarity with the communities of the departments of Chocó and Valle del Cauca (Colombia), severely affected by the 7.4‑magnitude earthquake recorded on 10 August 2026, with its epicentre in San José del Palmar.

The Pacific Administrative and Planning Region (RAP Pacífico), a strategic ally of RIPESS, has reported damage to infrastructure, housing and essential services, as well as urgent needs among the communities, particularly in rural and riverine areas that are difficult to access.

Institutional actions and channeling of support

RAP Pacífico is coordinating the response with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) and the departmental risk management offices, consolidating updated reports and coordinating the distribution of aid.

To facilitate the channeling of contributions, the entity has set up a physical collection point in Cali and shared the official accounts for direct donations to public institutions and ethnic organizations in the affected territories:
