On April 25th, the United Nations Inter-Agency Taskforce on Social and Solidarity Economy adopted a proposal to create a SSE Knowledge Hub for the SDGs. This project is the direct result of the Taskforce Seminar held in Rome on November 4, 2016.

The Knowledge Hub (KH) will have two purposes. First of all, the KH will be a complementary reference point on the SSE that interfaces with existing SSE knowledge resource centres such as Socioeco.org, RELIESS and C.I.T.I.E.S., all directly or indirectly related to RIPESS. Links to information and analysis provided on other websites such as the SSE Academy website and organisational websites such as RIPESS, GSEF, etc., will also be made to avoid duplication.

A second very important purpose of the KH will be to produce knowledge on how the SSE participates in the SDGs. For example, researchers and practitioners will be invited to produce papers on SSE and the different Goals.

RIPESS supports the Knowledge Hub project.  We offered to include our existing resource centres in this project. The resource centres such as Socioeco.org will participate as direct partners in advisory or other capacities in implementing this project. This will be defined once the project start, which depends on funding. The Taskforce secretariat will attempt to raise funds in the next months.
