From October 15 to 18, organizers, activists, movement leaders, and community builders from across the United States and beyond will gather in Denver, Colorado, for the Resist & Build Summit, a space dedicated to strengthening connections between resistance movements and initiatives that are building alternatives to the current economic and political system.
Through strategy sessions, workshops, plenaries, and open spaces, participants will exchange experiences, forge new alliances, and advance collective efforts toward a post-capitalist future rooted in solidarity, economic democracy, and social justice.
A Critical Moment for Systemic Transformation
As communities around the world face interconnected crises including environmental degradation, deepening inequality, resource extraction from the Global South, rising authoritarianism, war, and corporate domination, the need for transformative alternatives has never been more urgent.
The Resist & Build network seeks to bridge resistance movements and efforts to create new economic and social systems. It recognizes that resistance without a clear transformative vision risks becoming mere reform, while building alternatives without strong roots in social struggles can lead to exclusion and co-optation.
This gathering offers an important opportunity to strengthen relationships, share strategies, and expand the collective power needed to create a more just and democratic future.
RIPESS Participation
Sandra Moreno, Executive Secretary of RIPESS, has been invited by RIPESS member the US Solidarity Economy Network (USSEN) to participate in the following hybrid workshop:
Cultivating Cross-border Solidarity: Generating Translocal Economic Democracies and Moving to Reparative Justice
Facilitated by Alison Chopel and April Doner, this session will explore how translocal and cross-border solidarities can move beyond exchange and networking toward long-term collaboration, collective action, and reparative justice.
Drawing on RIPESS’ experience in building global networks for the Social and Solidarity Economy, Sandra will contribute to discussions around a central question:
How can translocal solidarities move from exchange to long-term collaboration and collective action?
The workshop will take place in the Zenith room and will be open to both in-person and online participants.
Organizers
The national Summit Planning Circle includes representatives from organizations such as the US Solidarity Economy Network, Build & Fight, Art.coop, People’s Network for Land and Liberation, Next System Studies, and The Democracy Collaborative.
