The WSFTE 2020, cancelled

The World Social Forum on Transformative Economies 2020 (WSFTE 2020), scheduled for the end of June in Barcelona, has been cancelled due to the situation arising from Covid-19. Here is the official message of the organizing committee.

We will post here any update on the WSFTE virtual process!

Dear participant,

We would like to share with you the latest decisions that have been taken [in recent weeks] within the [Organizing Committee of the] World Social Forum on Transforming Economies.

Due to the situation resulting from the Covid-19, we want to act responsibly and, with great sadness, we are forced to suspend the event that was planned between 25 and 28 June in Barcelona. Despite not celebrating the event physically, the process, the struggle, the alternatives and the synergies generated between convergences around the world continue.

Now more than ever we affirm to be among the necessary voices to offer alternatives to a system that is on the verge of collapse. It is time for uniting, for weaving links, for creativity, and for continuing to claim another world that already exists. We know that we are many and necessary, and that together we are stronger.

In this sense, we encourage you to continue building this project [process of confluence and co-construction] with us as a totally self-managed and activist initiative. You can continue to participate and strengthen the spaces that we have already created by joining the Virtual Forum and building confluences, as well as joining the existing ones [and the commissions:].

Also, [if you represent a national or international network or confluence], you can apply for membership of the Coordinating Committee (the Forum’s strategic-political decision-making body made up of 25 international networks): [].

At the same time, we invite you to propose ideas and various forms of participation, and to make the process your own. You can send them to the following e-mail address: or participate in the online dialogue in the Virtual Forum: [LINK]

The road here has been beautiful. We’re sure it will remain so.

For those of us who still don’t know how or where, but at least they are aware that there are alternatives [and that now more than ever they are necessary].

For those of us who feel that there is no turning back.

For those of us who continue to dream.

For all, but together. We invite you to continue being part of the process!
