Job Description:

Under the direction of the Board of Directors and the Executive Coordinator, between meetings of the Board, the primary responsibilites of the Operations Manager are:

  1. to coordinate the: (i) activities of work groups created for purposes of implementing the RIPESS work plan; (ii) implementation of other activities that may arise as a consequence of RIPESS participation in international bodies (e.g. UNTFSSE, ILO Academy, UNCTAD, UNRISD, UN-NGLS, UNDESA, etc); and (iii) administration of the RIPESS website;
  2. to ensure fluid communications in three languages between members of the board as well as the members of the work groups;
  3. to produce analyses or information necessary for effective decision making; and
  4. to work with the executive coordinator to prepare and organise Board meetings.

When necessary and possible, the Operations Manager can take on other tasks to advance the RIPESS action plan as may be directed by the Board of Directors or the Executive Coordinator.

The Operations Manager may work from any geographic location but should be in constant communication with members of the RIPESS board, in particular the executive coordinator. Subject to availability of RIPESS travel funds, the Operations Manager must also be willing to travel internationally in order to support the organisation of RIPESS’ intercontinental meetings and occasionally the international meetings of its continental members.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the international structures for the support and promotion of the social and solidarity economy;
  • Working knowledge of French, English and Spanish essential (knowledge of other languages a plus);
  • Capable of putting together targeted grant applications;
  • Experience in coordinating the preparations for and the conduct of meetings in various forms (e.g. face-to-face meetings, via skype or electronic means), chairing meetings, writing minutes, etc.;
  • Familiarity with WordPress and experience in website management ;
  • Availability to work approximately 20 hours/week on a flexible schedule.
